Kiski Conemaugh Stream Team: Environmental Education

I Conserve PA - Trout in the Classroom

Understanding that a connection to Nature is necessary for the passion and commitment to preserve and conserve it, the Stream Team offers environmental education programs and participates in community events as time and resources allow.

I Conserve PA

The Stream Team is a partner of the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ I Conserve PA program, which is designed to connect viewers to conservation and get them involved on a personal level.  To learn more visit I Conserve PA.

Trout in the Classroom

It also coordinates several Trout in the Classroom projects in Cambria and Somerset Counties.  TIC is a program of Trout Unlimited that allows students to raise brook trout fingerlings from eggs in a classroom aquarium throughout the school year, while learning about the importance of coldwater conservation.  Students are responsible for the daily care and maintenance of the aquarium system as the trout begin their marvelous transformation into easily recognizable fingerlings. In the spring and before the end of the school year, students release their trout into a state-approved body of water.

The Stream Team is involved with TIC at the following schools:
